The author did not call the Afghan people, the terrorists – here the author has mentioned the action of British military against terrorism in Afghanistan. There is nothing wrong with the above example.

I found this website very helpful. But sad to read the example of this idiom. There could be other example. Calling afghan people terrorist is not a good thing specially in academic and educational platform. I request admin to take down such examples which can hurt a community and add alternate examples. thanks

Could break a leg refer to the incomparable actress/ renaissance woman who lost a leg to gangrene. Although she didn’t break a leg on the stage, she did act and have a remarkable life on one leg.

I think this originates from Scripture. Specifically, the description of Saul in 1 Samuel 9:2, “From his shoulders upward…” Saul was “head and shoulders above everyone. People in earlier times were much more familiar with Scripture and Incorporated it moreoften in everyday speech, as many of our present idioms illustrate. Just my thought, of course …
